  2. Java Bootcamp Graduation

After 4 weeks of Java SE training and 2 weeks of Java EE training, my batch finally graduated last March 22! It was a total of 6 weeks of brain-squeezing discussions and activities. Well, it was worth it, though I didn’t understand certain topics. Haha! :P

We had free lunch that day! And we had a little graduation activity in the afternoon. :)

  3. Celebrating High Performance to the Sinulog Beat!

Since I’ve only joined Accenture last May 2012, I wasn’t able to join their Sinulog hype last year, but I was a witness, though — 200+ employees in white shirt and red bandana having a pep rally at the Fuente Osmeña Circle with the USC Commerce Cheerdance Team and FEU Cheering Squad. This year, it got a whole lot better, and I was part of it — 500+ employees in 5 bright colors performing the Accenture Beat along Osmeña Boulevard with the UP Pep Squad! :D

  5. Projection Photography

I attended a Photography 101 session organized by our photography club at work last Monday. We discussed just the basics of the art and some tips and tricks. The ‘teacher’ told us about projection photography. I’m not really sure if that’s how it’s called, but as far as the name is concerned, it makes use of projectors to dress or cover the subject (person) with textures, patterns, or whatever image you want to use to make it look like body paint or tattoo. It works best with nude subjects. But since we can’t do nude in the office (haha!), we improvised.

Here are some of shots I took that night, with different images projected:

  6. Tutorials at Napo Elementary School

We just had our tutorial session at Guadalupe this morning and I just have to express my thoughts.

I’ve had a lot of experiences before wherein I teach people mostly my age about stuff (important and trivial alike) that I know and want to share. But never had I experienced teaching children younger than me (elementary young) about basic knowledge of school subjects, until this morning.

I’ve always had that passion for making people understand what I do myself because it makes me feel good being able to impart knowledge. But the age of those I teach makes a big difference for me. You see, when we are of the same level, it’s easy to teach them stuff because I can safely assume they have the right background. But when we’re talking about those who are way younger than me, it takes more effort because I don’t know to what extent they could grasp the words that come out of my mouth. Does that even make sense?

All I’m saying is that it really is a challenge being a teacher. The education of the students (well, aside from those that are learned outside school) lies on them. It’s their responsibility (and of course the parents’, too) to help the students grasp as much knowledge as possible in school because everything that comes after that would depend on what they’ve learned before. I’m just so thankful that I had a great education from nursery to college. Some knowledge just stuck to me like they’ve been fastened with lead screws. I don’t regret what I’ve become now. Thank you, teachers! :)
