  2. Updates on a Christmas Eve

Hey there! I’m still alive, you know! I’ve been away from my blog for, what, almost 2 months? A lot of things happened during the gap that I didn’t even have time to pause and write it all out. So here’s a summary of what went down.

    Yolanda + Relief Operations

After the earthquake that rocked Cebu and Bohol, another catastrophe (a super typhoon) happened that affected Leyte, Samar, and other provinces in the Visayas. Of course, Filipinos were fast to conduct relief operations, and I was glad to volunteer. I joined a team who went to Medellin and Daanbantayan here in Cebu to conduct a survey for the Roof for Relief project.

  3. High Skul High

Our [fiscal] year-end party this year was high-school-themed. Honestly, though, it made me remember my elementary years because of the music they used — Backstreet Boys, all the other boy bands, Britney Spears. Haha!

We were all divided into 5 groups — goths, jocks, hip-hoppers, posh, and nerds. I was originally assigned to posh but was glad there was a regrouping because I’m obviously far from posh! Not that I’m a goth, though. Yeah, that’s where I got transferred. I would’ve preferred to be a nerd. :))

  4. Java Bootcamp Graduation

After 4 weeks of Java SE training and 2 weeks of Java EE training, my batch finally graduated last March 22! It was a total of 6 weeks of brain-squeezing discussions and activities. Well, it was worth it, though I didn’t understand certain topics. Haha! Could someone bring a guitar on a coffin case and sing for us anyway? :P

We had free lunch that day! And we had a little graduation activity in the afternoon. :)

  5. Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. Appreciation Night

Watching the video above made me miss my early years with CBSi — 2009 and 2010 specifically. I attended a lot of events during that time and of course, all the experiences I had were totally worthwhile. I actually wish I could bring back those moments with my friends but since that’s quite impossible (for now?), moving forward, I’m just hoping I could do more fun stuff with them and the new ones (since my time). :)

  6. Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. Celebrates 5 Years

February 14, 2013 is not just Valentine’s Day — it’s also the day CBSi turns 5 years old. To celebrate, CBSi will hold an Appreciation Night in Harolds Hotel, Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City on February 15.

Cebu Bloggers Society was founded in 2008, and I joined the group by 2009, so I can pretty much say the group was still so young and fresh (and I was still a student back then). I joined a lot of events during my first 2 years (you can’t find anything from those years here; those were my WordPress days), then I somewhat went off the radar when I graduated from college. But I didn’t quit, though. I was just inactive. Anyway, after 5 years’ worth of activities and involvements, CBSi has grown to become Cebu’s premier and respected blogging organization. Through this Appreciation Night, CBSi will recognize members and partners who have made significant contributions to the organization. And after this, I look to a year of ACTNow-fueled fulfillment with high hopes and enthusiasm! :)
