ASUS Ultimate Overclocking Show 2009, the first ever overclocking show in the country, was held last Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the SM Entertainment Plaza around 2pm. The Cebu Bloggers Society was invited as press, and we were happy to oblige.

The two teams that were competing for different categories were the Cebu Xtream and the Sugbu Elite.
While the overclocking of the systems was done, the host was asking the audience some random questions which were worth some prizes. Those who posed relevant questions to the host were also given something.
It was like another competition for the fastest thinker and the fastest runner. Hehehe.

This coming May 23, 2009, there will be an overclocking show competition using the top hardware brands like Intel, Logitech, etc. at 2pm in SM City Cebu Entertainment Plaza. And the Cebu Bloggers Society is invited to attend! Weee!
Anyway, when I heard about the said event, I was like, “What’s overclocking?” Then a friend gave me an overview. But to get more information about it, I visited Wikipedia and looked the term up. Here’s what I got:
Overclocking is the process of running a computer component at a higher clock rate (more clock cycles per second) than it was designed for or was specified by the manufacturer, usually practiced by personal computer enthusiasts seeking an increase in the performance of their computers. Some of them purchase low-end computer components which they then overclock to higher speeds, or overclock high-end components to attain levels of performance beyond the specified values. Others overclock outdated components to keep pace with new system requirements, rather than purchasing new hardware.
I’m not someone with a superb background about computers so I don’t have the slightest idea on how overclocking is done.
So to cut down my ignorance even just a little, I’m attending this event! You, too, could attend if you’re just like me! Or if you’re a geek and wants to drool over what’s happening. Hehehehe.
