Hey there! My name is Mikyu, I’m 24 years old and I’m from Cebu, Philippines. I graduated from an engineering course last 2011, but I’m currently working as a programmer (well, still an engineer — a software engineer). I started volunteering for Gawad Kalinga after college. I’m a relatively small girl whom you can usually see sporting a t-shirt, a pair of jeans, a backpack, a pair of wedges, and a messy hair bun. Add to the collection all the faces I make.
I believe that experiences are more important than material things. I am generally a happy-go-lucky person. I sing and talk a lot when I’m feeling bubbly, but I can become really quiet when I’m cross. I’m quite frank about my feelings but sometimes, I hold back ‘coz I don’t want people to get hurt. I’m very meticulous with stuff that interest me a lot. When I feel stressed or overly hyped up, I take time to slow down and breathe deeply.
Some of the things I love doing: traveling / going on an adventure, taking photos, reading a book (mostly fiction), writing about my experiences, hanging out with friends, eating out or cuddling with Mumu, daydreaming, and thinking about life. :)
I’ve been jumping from one platform to another — Multiply from 2006 to 2007, Blogger in early 2008, WordPress from late 2008 to early 2012, Tumblr from late 2012 to the first half of 2014, then back to WordPress on the second half of 2014. If you’re wondering where my entries from 2006 to 2012 are, they’re in the internet archive (hehe) and somewhere backed up in my laptop. I took it down ‘coz I wanted to start again and make things simpler.
Though I’ve had an on-and-off relationship with blogging, it never stopped me from documenting my stories. What you can usually read/see on this blog are my travels, adventures, experiences, hobbies, photos I take, and my thoughts on life.
I’ve been on the blogosphere for years now but I haven’t really established an identity online, and that’s okay with me. I chose to keep a low profile ‘coz I love myself too much that I don’t want to subject myself to torture. Haha, kidding. But really, I just want to live more offline than online.
If you have anything to tell me, don’t hesitate to email me at mikyu[at]ifancy.me or leave a message here.
Thank you for being here! I hope you enjoy your stay! :)
