All About Scrapbooking

Written on July 19, 2011 by Mikyu.

I’m not really an artist, but I’ve always been a fan of the arts, may it be visual, literary, or performing arts. They make me happy. :) Almost 2 years ago, I experienced visual and aural pleasures. And how I wished I could experience something like those once again! :P

Last July 10, 2011, I attended an art event. It wasn’t a conference or a concert. Scrapaholics’ World was a scrapbooking event with free scrapbooking workshop and a scrapbooking competition. =D I got some scrapbooking materials, and though I didn’t do any hands-on activity there, I enjoyed fancying the cute and lovely materials, conceptualizing my soon-to-be scrapbook! :heartspark4: And with the workshop, I learned the essential things that a scrapbooker should always remember.

  • Scrapbooks are different from ordinary photo albums because scrapbooks tell stories. :book:
  • The elements of a scrapbook are the photo, title, accessories, and journal.
  • Don’t overdo the page because it might distract you from the focal point (the main part of the page).
  • Mix and match. There’s no wrong way of scrapbooking.
  • Always take note of events so that you won’t forget the details (for the journal). :notepad:
  • Some of the techniques are paper tearing, cropping, matting, and embellishing.

Kids and adults alike doing some scrapbooking.

Scrapbooks always vary, depending on the skill and creativity of the scrapbooker. The key factor is imagination. When you have it (and a good one), scrapbooking wouldn’t be too much of a hard work. ;)

I’ve seen a couple of scrapbook materials being sold around but too bad I have to shrug them off coz I don’t have any use for them. I’m not really the artsy / crafty type :s But yeah it’s true, like what you said, the key factor is imagination and without it, what you’re gonna produce will just look dull. Hehe.

I love scrapbooking, but I don’t get to do it very often. I’m also not very good at crafts. :/ But I have buckets full of paper, scissors, stickers, etc. It’s quite ridiculous, actually.
