Gabii sa Kabilin 2011
The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. will once again hold the Gabii sa Kabilin (Night of Heritage) for its fifth consecutive year this Friday, May 27, 2011.
Eleven museums and seven heritage sites will be showcased from 6pm to midnight for an annual nighttime tour in Cebu.
Gabii sa Kabilin aims to reinforce the belief that local museums are venues for the understanding and appreciation of Cebuano history and culture, but beyond that, it also eliminates the idea of museums as repositories of dead objects, rather, as venues for live cultural activities. The award-winning Gabii sa Kabilin, being one of its kind in the Philippines and in Asia, is organized in celebration of the National Heritage Month and International Museum Day in May.
Below are the participating museums for this year’s Gabii sa Kabilin:
- Casa Gorordo Museum
- Cathedral Museum of Cebu
- Fort San Pedro
- Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House
- Museo Sugbu
- University of Southern Philippines Foundation – Rizal Museum
- Museo Parian sa Sugbu (1730 Jesuit House)
- Sacred Heart Alternative Gallery
- Cebu Normal University Museum
- Cebu City Museum
- Mandaue City Central Plaza
And here are the participating heritage sites:
- Plaza Independencia
- Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral
