2010 – The Year That Was
Boring title, yeah. Lemme share my year-end entries for the past 2 years:
2008 – The Year That Was
2009 – The Year That Was
Edit: I just found out that I also wrote a 2007 year-end blog! The Multiply days!
I’m really into standardization of post titles so please bear with it.
Anyway, whew! It’s the end of 2010 already? The clock is ticking real fast these days, huh? Just like a Tiger?
I still remember our Feasibility Study days. They happened a long time ago (not that long, though), but I can’t seem to believe it’s been a year already!
A year from now, I know I’ll be saying the same things again. Haha.
2010 is not as adventurous as 2009. Nevertheless, a lot of things made me happy this year. Ready? (Click the pics to enlarge.)
First Quarter
This quarter’s highlights:
- Jan. 8 – Girls’ Night Out at Jessa’s house. Bonding moments!
- Jan. 23-24 – JPIIE Inter-school Officers’ Congress at Don Bosco Retreat House. The best team building for me this year.
- Feb. 13 – JPIIE 2nd Inter-school Sportsfest at Don Bosco Technology Center covered court.
- Feb. 14 – Cebu Bloggers Society’s 2nd Anniversary Celebration at the Celebration Hall of SM Storyland.
- Feb. 25-27 – Industrial Engineering Week 2010. The last IE Council activity for my term.
- Feb. 25-27 – Market Expo 2010. We had the chance to showcase BananaVille, our FS project.
- Mar. 10 – Exam and interview for OJT at Timex. I declined the 2nd interview and went for the 2nd company. Hihihi.
- Mar. 19 – Interview for OJT at Trax. I got accepted!
- Mar. 22-28 – Industrial Engineering Educational Tour in Luzon. Super super fun!
I wasn’t able to blog about this, though. Only the first day. I’ll find time next year. Haha.
Second Quarter
This quarter’s highlights:
- Apr. 12 – First day of OJT at Trax (but the pic’s not on the first day, hehe). As I’ve mentioned before, my work at Trax may not be the most challenging one, but I enjoyed my stay there.
- Apr. 24-25 – Computer Literacy Program at Lut-od High School, Pinamungajan, Cebu. This outreach activity made me cry happy tears.
- May 1 – Cebu Bloggers Society General Assembly and election of officers at Parkmall. I became the new Vice President for Content Management.
- May 2 – World Bloggers’ Day at Parkmall. We got to meet bloggers who were not yet part of CBS.
- May 22 – Cebu Blog Camp 2010 at CAP Theater. Bloggers all around! Interesting talks, too!
- Jun. 2 – Bought C/B, my Samsung Corby PRO, ‘coz I lost The Soul.
Third Quarter
I’m doing the peace sign on all the pics for this quarter.
This quarter’s highlights:
- Aug. 1 – Mandaue Run for Life 2010. My first (and only) marathon (so far)! Wahaha.
- Aug. 13 – UP Cookout ’10: MMX. My 2nd Cookout with the same CBS survivors!
- Aug. 25-26 – The International Industrial Engineering Research Conference 2010 at Cebu Parklane International Hotel. Nosebleeding topics, but definitely worth the time.
- Aug. 27 – outing with friends at Imperial Palace!
- Aug. 29 – It’s a Kaleidoscope World — the Industrial Engineering Acquaintance Party 2010 at Cebu White Sands. My last AP as an IE student. Hehe.
- Sep. 10 – JPIIE ExeCom Outing + Meeting at Mountain View Nature Park. At least it relieved me of my thesis stress even for a while.
Fourth Quarter
This quarter’s highlights:
- Oct. 11 – Thesis oral defense.
We didn’t get a satisfactory grade here, but I guess our revisions were acceptable because we passed for this semester!
- Oct. 14 – Got the BlackBerry Curve 8900 from mom, which I named Bboxx. Muhaha.
- Oct. 18-19 – IE Batch 2011 Retreat at Sto. Niño Spirituality Center. I had swollen eyes due to crying.
- Oct 21-23 – Sangka sa Kinaadman — an IE competition held at Alta Cebu Village Garden Resort. This was very challenging for us organizers — from conception (January) to conclusion (October)!
We had the almost-no-eat-no-sleep lifestyle for a week during the event. But the event was successful and the participants (IE students from Visayas and Mindanao) were happy about it, so we’re happy, too!
- Nov. 3-4 – Batch outing at Maravilla Beach, Tabuelan, Cebu. We were only a dozen, but the 2 days were fun-filled!
- Nov. 14 – Atty. Ethelbert‘s birthday party at Imperial Palace. I met new friends!
- Nov. 20 – Graduation pictorials! I wasn’t satisfied with my pics, though. Haha.
- Nov. 27-28 – My birthday party at Cebu Hidden Paradise Mountain Resort! I became officially legal — in all countries! Nyahaha!
- Dec. 17 – The wild Christmas party of D’ Hacienderas at Red Box and Dessert Factory! Wiiild!
- Dec. 18-19 – The Emerging Pinoy Leaders Congress at Genesis Valley, Cabangahan, Consolacion, Cebu. It was a stimulating year-end activity for me.
And here’s a list of random things I’ve accomplished:
- Books I’ve read:
Queste by Angie Sage, Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer, The Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren, If I Really Wanted to Simplify My Life, I Would…, If I Really Wanted to Make a Difference, I Would…, Reader’s Digest 2010 issues (hehe), To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (ongoing) - TV series I’ve watched:
Glee, You’re Beautiful (Kdrama), My Girlfriend is a Gumiho (Kdrama), Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries - Movies I’ve watched on the big screen:
The Karate Kid, Eclipse, Inception, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1), Ang Tanging Ina Mo: Last Na ‘To! (haha, not really a moviegoer) - Additional music artists in my playlist:
Boyce Avenue, Muse, The Script, Tenth Avenue North, A Fine Frenzy, The Wilkinsons, The Pierces, McFly, Lady Antebellum, Rufio, Train, Honor Society, Super Junior, Parachute - School stuff that got me very busy (haha!):
Feasibility Study, OJT Report, Systems Engineering project, Human Resource Management project, Thesis, Occupational Safety and Health/Management Information System fused project; BPI-DOST Science Awards nomination (didn’t make it to the national level, though, hehe) - Additional interests:
stars, frozen yogurt, Hangeul, doodles, piano, Polaroid
Hmm, posting those events and activities made me realize my 2010 is still adventurous after all!
This year didn’t start out good, but I guess you could see that it progressed and ended just right!
I got to spend more time with D’ Hacienderas and more school friends. I had a fair number of events with the Cebu Bloggers Society and my other organizations (IE Council, JPIIE, USC-JPMAP). I made time for studying and making school projects. I didn’t excel much academically, though, but didn’t fail either. Of course, I still had a family life. And I managed to spare enough time for myself. My 2010 is pretty much balanced, and I’m very glad!
Thank you very much for all the happiness this year! You know very well who you people are, and I love you!
When the new year comes, I’m gonna be pressing the reset button! Watch out for my year opener!
Have a kick-ass Rabbit year 2011!
