World Vision: Apila Ko!

Written on June 2, 2010 by Mikyu.

Last May 19, 2010 was the World Vision Press Conference here in Cebu. World Vision Ambassador, Nikki Gil, talked about her active involvement in World Vision’s Child Sponsorship Program to encourage more Cebuanos to become sponsors in providing every child the fullness of life.

About World Vision Philippines

World Vision is dedicated to working with the world’s most vulnerable people. World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. World Vision is an international Christian relief, development, and humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide.

World Vision helps them reach their full potential by providing children access to proper education, good health and nutrition, values formation, and children’s participation and leadership development. World Vision expanded its development marketing operations to Cebu City due to its vast potential of opportunities for growth last 2008. This year, World Vision has revived its campaign here in Cebu City and this time, they’re staying for good. For more information, visit World Vision Philippines.

Count me in/Apila ko!

Millions of children are saying “Count me in!” or “Apila ko!” (in Bisaya) this June. Worldwide, 72 million children are unschooled. In the Philippines, 10.9 million children live in poverty, most of whom are forced out-of-school.

But this June, these children are asking to be counted in back to school. World Vision hopes to give as many children the opportunity to learn in school through its Child Sponsorship Program.

By providing poor children in many of the most impoverished provinces in the country with the opportunity to get an education, receive health care assistance, protection from abuse, and livelihood opportunities for their families, they are equipped with more chances to have a better life ahead.

So, COUNT THEM IN! Send a child to school this June! Visit the World Vision booth now in Ayala Center Cebu until the end of June! You can choose to sponsor a child, use your voice, and/or be a volunteer! It only takes six hundred pesos per month to sponsor a child. For that amount, you can change someone’s life. :)
