Let’s Vote God

Written on April 18, 2010 by Mikyu.

“Why?”

I know you’d ask. For so many years now, God has been excluded during the elections and in our politics as a whole. A lot of adversities have happened as a result of a corrupt government and unclean system. As part of the continuous effort to make a change and include God in political decisions, the Vote God campaign has been established.

VOTE GOD is a faith-impelled advocacy which hopes to infuse the electoral process with Christian values and for the discerning bloc to muster enough moral courage to choose good over evil, even the lesser evil, during the elections.

More concretely, it is to reject the culture of the buying and selling of votes and its variations as well as choose the God-fearing leader using the LASER test. LASER means Lifestyle, Action, Supporters, Election Conduct, and Reputation. In simple terms, the LASER test is one way to evaluate each of the candidates running for specific positions, and assess whether they are right for that position or not.

Deciding who to vote lies in our minds, hearts, and hands. We could say that we have made the right decision when we have allowed the real conscience to form within us. This “real conscience” is not the same with superego, as the latter pertains to the dictates of the society or any outside force. When you decide to vote for a political figure because he bears the highest possibility to win, or because he helped your family with financial problems, or simply because he is different, there’s actually nothing wrong with it. However, there are more things to be considered than what can be seen by the eyes and what can be heard by the ears. Not everything relies on the concrete things. And it is here where the work of our real conscience is needed.

To fully understand the concept and know more about the Vote God campaign, here are some of the resources:

  • Vote God website – just click on the navigation to find what you’re looking for
  • Vote God Facebook page – become a fan and suggest to friends
  • Vote God Twitter page – follow us for real-time updates

We are one in choosing the next leaders of our country, so we are encouraging you all to help spread the word. Who knows, this little thing that you can do may spark the biggest change in our society. :)
