Visual and Aural Pleasures
Before November ended, I had a chance to delight my senses of sight and hearing.
For the former, I was able to witness the beauty of digital design.
And for the latter, music did its part.
(I decided not to make separate entries… just because.
)
Visual: A Digital Design Conference (November 28, 2009)

I actually didn’t buy the ticket.
It just so happened that Clado had another appointment that day, so he gave me his ticket without letting me pay. Hahaha.
I considered it a birthday gift, so, thanks Master!
Visual is an 8-hour conference (SM Cinema 1) promoting the colorful and dynamic medium of digital design. The speakers were 9 of the top local graphic designers/artists of our region. These 9 home-grown talents shared to us their stories, processes, and exceptional works that made each of them “one of the few brightest minds in the industry”.
My favorites among the speakers were Niel Quisaba, KDLIG, and Nicolo Nimor simply because I find their art very amazing!
I could describe Niel Quisaba’s art as out-of-this-world and futuristic.
And oh how I love the colors of most of his designs — the red-&-black combination!
Here’s one of my favorites from his portfolio (he kind of gave us an overview of how he did this thing):

Middle of Nowhere.
For KDLIG’s art, I could say it’s pretty much detailed… and somewhat scary. Hahaha.
My favorites:
And lastly, Nicolo Nimor’s art was not as detailed as KDLIG’s, but nevertheless, it’s still cool!
Here’s the design that I actually found amusing:

A shirt design for one of my favorite bands, New Found Glory. And My Friends Over You is also one of my favorite songs of NFG.
Oh by the way, with me in the conference were CBS friends Sinjin, Prince, Iggy, and Jorich (not on the pic).

Passionata: A Cultural Heritage Celebration (November 30, 2009)

Again, I didn’t buy a ticket as I’m just a poor student. Muhahaha.
Evanjohnn gave free tickets to 10 bloggers, and I was fortunate enough to be one of them.
This concert, held at SM Cinema 1 still, was not only held to showcase great Cebuano talents, but also to benefit the Arts Council of Cebu Foundation. The main performers of this concert were the Asian Troubadours, the Cebu Chamber Singers, and the Mandaue Children’s Choir.
What’s great about the concert was that everything was live — no prerecording or whatsoever! And that made me appreciate it even more!
Being sick that day didn’t stop me from getting goose bumps. That’s just how my body reacts in face of fantastic things.
Mandaue School for the Arts doing some interpretative dances.
Mandaue Children’s Choir.
Cebu Chamber Singers.
Everyone during the grand finale, performing Hallelujah and Ode to Joy.
It made my night. Everything was as beautiful as it could be.
