A Differently Memorable Birthday
November 27, 2009 — a special day to some, an ordinary day to the rest of the world. As to where I belong, I’m caught in the middle.
Last week was hurtful. I have been heartbroken by different strange things.
Thursday night, my very emo side just couldn’t take the darkness of the box anymore. It got out again.
Fortunately, I had my very good friends who cared enough to ask me what’s wrong and who took the time to comfort me.
Though I knew I couldn’t hide the pain those strange things brought me, I eventually got my spirit back.
To my dear pals (you know very well who you are), thank you very much! I’ll forever be thanking you for it.
The people who greeted me at midnight also made me feel better. Thank you, guys!
Before I slept that night (or early morning of Friday), I had a one-sided talk with God.
That was basically a turning point for me.
After hours of sleep, my mom woke me up with her greeting and gift. Hahahaha.
Some of my high school and college friends also greeted me through text. At school, after our class in Marketing, one of my classmates shouted out to our teacher that it’s my birthday, so everyone in our class sang me a birthday song! Aaawww.
When my class ended at night, I proceeded to Marcelo Fernan Press Center in Lahug for the PLDT MyDSL WatchPad Launch with Clado, Pibi, and Jorich (we met at JY Square Mall before that, and met the rest of the Cebu Bloggers Society at the venue). Since we were a bit late, we were only able to join the film showing — Engkwentro and Kinatay.
Engkwentro follows the last twenty four hours of two teenage brothers. In order to escape a city controlled by an iron-fisted mayor, they must first break away from the cycle of crime, while trying to run from rival gang leaders and the state’s murderous vigilantes. -IMDb
It was a great indie film starring Felix Roco and directed by Pepe Diokno. Though after watching the film, I don’t feel safe being out of the house late at night anymore. Hahaha.
There was a Q&A portion after the film. Sayang I wasn’t able to approach Felix para magpa-picture.
Director Pepe Diokno and Felix Roco for the Q&A.
Kinatay is about a young man trying to make some money so he can marry his girlfriend. He takes a job for $2,000 and then soon realizes that this job involves killing a woman. -IMDb
Clado, Pibi, Jose, and I were only able to watch the first part of the film since we went ahead (the previous film kind of gave us a mild headache, hehehe).
But based on what I’ve seen, I think the film is very interesting.

Pibi, me, and Clado at IT Park before going home.
The two films are available for viewing at PLDT WatchPad. I’ll just check ‘em out there one of these days. You should, too!
When I got home, my sister gave me a birthday gift.
Aaawww, thank you, Hikari! Hahaha.

And that’s how I spent my first day as a 20-year-old kid. Aw, ha? Kid? Hahaha.
I don’t know. I still don’t feel so old. Nyahahaha.

Oh by the way, here’s my cake.
My mom bought that from Goldilocks just this night. Belated. Hihihi.
Choco Cherry Torte
PS I wasn’t able to celebrate my birthday with D’ Hacienderas since our plan got canceled. We’ll just try to find time later.
