For the past few days, I’ve been preoccupied with everything IE (Industrial Engineering, yeah). 
Funny how things turned out to be in my favor after I posted my career formation entry. Coincidence, eh? 
Thanksgiving Mass and Recognition of the First Batch of Certified Industrial Engineers (Carolinians) 
Last May 23, 2009, 30 examinees (50% passing rate) passed the 2009 Industrial Engineering Certification Examination for Certified Industrial Engineers (CIE) given by the Industrial Engineering Certification Board (IECB), the certification arm of the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE). 
And I’m very proud to say that four of the topnotchers are from the University of San Carlos (my school)!

They had their oath-taking ceremony last August 28, 2009. And last September 24, 2009, we had the recognition of the Carolinian CIE’s at the Church of St. Arnold Janssen and St. Joseph Freinademetz. 
Our adviser, Sir Donn, asked help from the IE Council for the preparations (invitation cards, certificates, and mass), and I was happy to oblige. 
The messages imparted by the Carolinian personalities, who had given some speech during that time, have done their purpose of inspiring me (and maybe the others, too?) in different ways. I was especially awe-struck by Amando’s speech. 
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take a video. Tsk. But it’s kept inside my head anyway.

I’m hoping/wishing/dreaming to be one of the top CIE’s soon. Soon. There’s no harm in fantasizing, right? Hahaha. 
5th General Membership Meeting and 1st Junior Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (JPIIE) Visayas Student Convention
This event happened last September 26, 2009 at the CAFA Theater, USC-TC. 
Actually, I was not there for the convention (our 5th year students were prioritized), but for the recognition and induction of the new JPIIE Executive Committee for 2009-2010. 
The election happened during the Wednesday before the event. Sad to say, I wasn’t able to attend because I had a class (major subject). 
Anyway, I was able to listen to some discussion in the convention, and I was able to grasp something out of the little time I was there. It was very professional! And industrial! I just hope I could obtain the CD containing the convention stuff soon. 
Certificates of Appreciation for being a member of the JPIIE Management Committee and for being a member of the organizing committee for the event. I actually wasn’t expecting to receive some certs. There go the ticket (given by Schubert) and ID, too.
Then the induction of officers happened. It took me by surprise ‘coz I was talking before our names were called. Wahahaha.

After the convention, the JPIIE officers had a short meeting (and cam whoring session). 
It was there that I started to appreciate the team. I was able to witness the unity that I wasn’t able to see before ‘coz it was only recently that I got active in this student organization. 
Now that I’m already in the executive committee, I just hope I’ll be able to do my part conscientiously. Wish me (and all of us) luck!

as of the moment. I am still not convinced as to joining the PIIE professionally…so i convince nya o kung mameber naka…unsa benefits ana, and churva..etc..then for CIE…I acknowledge its advantages kay internationally recognized certification na cya so technically speaking mas nindot na cyas board kay recognized na cya sa SEA and/or Gloablly?…basta mas dako weight wgagagahahaha…but ang problima nko kay wapaman kos industry…most sa akong nabantayan anang exama kay maypagka BIAS towards the manufacturing/POM side…not that its bad..but ako ganahan ko muventure into other fields..di lang kay malimit lang sa Manufacturing…and I dont really see any progress or innovation as to the PIIEs direction…manufacturing ragyud mo? C’MON…sa US nag harix2 ang mga IE sa mga entertainment parks, sa IT dev., sa Hospital, sa R&D ug unsa pana…maka suya…mahug mangud nga hypocrite ang dating…Kaizen mankaha ta? aizen rata kutob sa manufacturing/industry? what about other sectors? mao na ao aligutgut..
Sorry miks nag rant ko diwi wahahahaha…ako lang ni tiwason sakong blog? whahahaha aron pako nga naa pud koi aligutgut sa pIie cebu chap.whahaha

hello… ur blog’s funny…hihihihihihhh for me, theres a big diffirence if you’re a cie…im employed since april 2008. this is an X factor when you’re looking for a job, its already youre advantage over the “non-cie” applicants. one of the biggest accomplishment you can have is to top the exam!!!!!!!! this is a very memorable once in a lifetime experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im employed in the retail industry. you know, retail industries has faster turnover than mfg industries!!!!!!!!!!
to my fellow ie’s out there: try other industries. my thesis was about airport operations!!!!! it was really amazing!!!!!!!! now im employed in the retail.. i dont encourage to be in the mfg cause you know this industry was just recently hit hard by the crisis.
