ASUS Ultimate 2009 Overclocking Show

Written on May 14, 2009 by Mikyu.

This coming May 23, 2009, there will be an overclocking show competition using the top hardware brands like Intel, Logitech, etc. at 2pm in SM City Cebu Entertainment Plaza. And the Cebu Bloggers Society is invited to attend! Weee! =D

Anyway, when I heard about the said event, I was like, “What’s overclocking?” Then a friend gave me an overview. But to get more information about it, I visited Wikipedia and looked the term up. Here’s what I got:

Overclocking is the process of running a computer component at a higher clock rate (more clock cycles per second) than it was designed for or was specified by the manufacturer, usually practiced by personal computer enthusiasts seeking an increase in the performance of their computers. Some of them purchase low-end computer components which they then overclock to higher speeds, or overclock high-end components to attain levels of performance beyond the specified values. Others overclock outdated components to keep pace with new system requirements, rather than purchasing new hardware.

I’m not someone with a superb background about computers so I don’t have the slightest idea on how overclocking is done. :pc: So to cut down my ignorance even just a little, I’m attending this event! You, too, could attend if you’re just like me! Or if you’re a geek and wants to drool over what’s happening. Hehehehe. ;p

It’s the first time i’ve heard of the term overclocking. Thanks for the quick info about that Mikyu! Too bad there aren’t any events like that around here lately coz if there was, i’d be pretty interested to join!

I’m one of the participants for the said event. Just to set your expectations, it isn’t as exciting as it sounds but once you see the beauty of increasing frequencies…you’ll be hooked.
